Dr Lai qualified from the University of Hong Kong in 2000 and was awarded the Master of Dental Surgery and Advanced diploma in Periodontology in 2003 and 2004 respectively. He then obtained the Diploma of Membership in Restorative Dentistry, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRD RCSEd) in the same year. In 2007, he was admitted as fellows in the College of Dental Surgeons of Hong Kong (Periodontology) and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. Dr Lai is now a registered Specialist in Periodontology with the Dental Council of Hong Kong. Currently, he works in private practice providing treatment limited to periodontology on a referral basis and has set up two Periodontal Treatment Centres in Hong Kong. He is also the President of theHong Kong Society of Periodontology and Implant
Dentistry and actively promotes Periodontal Health in the society while keeping close connection with international and regional professional association as well as dental companies. In the past 15 years, he worked for the Faculty of Dentistry, the University of Hong Kong as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Principal Clinical Practitioner in the discipline of Periodontology teaching both post- graduates and undergraduates. His main clinical interest now are periodontal diagnostic, preventive-led management approach with patient motivation and behavioural change, non surgical periodontal treatment with or without adjunctive therapy and surgical Periodontal therapy in Periodontitis patient, in his community based Periodontal care practice.
